Premier Announces Music Festivals Can Resume With Strict Bans On Dancing, Singing & Mingling
The struggling music festival industry has been given a much needed lifeline by the NSW government.
The Premier has today announced that festivals can resume after being put on hold earlier in the year because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
“We understand the importance of our music festival industry in bringing young people together,” says Gladys Berejiklian. “But we need to do it safely.”
From next month festivals will be allowed to take place, as long as organisers and festival goers adhere to strict guidelines.
“Any dancing, singing or mingling will be forbidden,” says the Premier. “That’s how Covid-19 spreads.”
Festivals will be limited to a maximum of 150 patrons who will be forced to adhere to social distancing rules while being seated at all times.
It follows similar measures announced yesterday for weddings and corporate events.
“I don’t mind getting munted and just talking to myself,” says one festival goer. “It’s better than nothing.”
