PASSING THE BUCK: A Sydney couple’s ingenious plan to save money by having their wedding in Bali has left their guests financially crippled.

The couple, Mark and Penny Shaw, are now facing backlash as their friends and family struggle to recover from the unexpected travel expenses.

“I had to sell my car to afford the plane ticket,” lamented one guest.

“And don’t even get me started on the cost of the ‘optional’ elephant ride.”

As for the couple, they remain blissfully unaware of the financial strain their dream wedding has caused.

“We’re just so happy that everyone could make it,” the bride said, sipping a cocktail by the pool.

“Bali really is the perfect place for a wedding on a budget.”

Meanwhile, the couple is already planning their next adventure: a honeymoon in the Maldives, with guests invited to chip in for the accomodation.
