Billionaire businessman Richard Branson is taking steps to ease the pain being felt by Virgin Australia cabin crew and other staff who have lost their jobs.
“We’re sad and sorry to see so many staff being made redundant,” says Branson. “So we’re offering them each 2 day passes to Virgin Active.”
It follows Virgin Australia being placed into administration on Tuesday after a decade of near-continuous losses, owing creditors $6.8 billion.
The gym day passes are normally worth $24 each. But the staff say they’re of little value, with all gyms – including Virgin Active – being closed due to Coronavirus.
“Don’t worry the gyms will be open soon,” speculates Branson. “Just sit tight and be patient.”
“Why couldn’t he give us something decent?” says one disgruntled air hostess. “Maybe a few nights accomodation on his private island or something? He seems quite tight.”
