FAIR-WEATHER FRIENDS: Rebel Sports stores in Sydney are working to contain a growing queue of people trying to get refunds on NSW State of Origin scarves and other apparel.
It follows the Blues’ 32-6 demolition at the hands of Queensland in Game 2 to send them 2-0 down in the three-game series.
“I actually drove here at half time last night when it became clear NSW was going to lose,” one man told DBT as he waited in line to return a NSW beanie.
“But I might buy some Maroons merchandise while I’m here, because I like going to Surfers Paradise sometimes.”
Similar queues are being reported at Bondi Junction Rebel.
One deflated looking man who supports both the NSW Blues and Roosters in the NRL, has admitted it’s time he gets a life outside of being a footy fan.
“I think I need to broaden my horizons,” he says.
“Maybe I can swap my NSW gear for a Manchester City shirt, because they just won the UEFA Champions League soccer final.”
