Property crash finally hits the eastern suburbs as real estate agents are forced to start returning buyers’ calls
DESPERATE TIMES, DESPERATE MEASURES: The once-impenetrable fortress of Sydney’s eastern suburbs property market has officially crumbled.
Real estate agents have begun returning buyers’ phone calls as the downturn reaches its most alarming stage yet.
“For years, if a buyer called twice, we’d just block their number,” one Double Bay agent told DBT.
“Yesterday I rang one back and asked if he was still interested. It was deeply humiliating.”
Several agencies are now running emergency workshops covering basic phone etiquette, including actually listening to people instead of just talking the whole time.
Industry experts warn that if prices continue falling, agents may eventually be forced to arrive at inspections on time or even publish realistic price guides.
