Peter Dutton lists Bondi Junction outdoor mall as proposed location for nuclear power plant
MALL MAKEOVER: It’s a bold move that has left locals and environmentalists bewildered:
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has announced a proposal to transform the aging and largely forgotten Bondi Junction outdoor mall into a nuclear power plant.
“My vision is to transform this outdated and unpopular shopping area into an energy-producing powerhouse,” says Peter Dutton.
“It’s about time we brought some real energy back to Bondi Junction.”
The shopping area – also known as Oxford Street mall – has been earmarked by the opposition leader as one of seven proposed nuclear power plant sites around the country.
The mall currently boasts a range of substandard retail outlets, including several off-brand discount stores.
“This mall is ripe for redevelopment,” says Dutton. “Nobody will even notice.”
