City2Surf introduces new 500m category for those who just want finish line selfies

LATE ENTRY: With just two days to go till the City2Surf, race organisers have introduced a brand new category, to make the event appeal to a wider range of runners.

“Our new 500m dash is for those who are solely interested in snapping that all-important finish line selfie,” says a spokesperson.

Participants in the new category will begin their race on Campbell Parade, just half a kilometre from the iconic Bondi Beach finish line.

On the way, participants will pass hydration stations offering spritz bottles for that ‘just ran 14kms’ look.

“Since announcing the new race option this morning, we’ve had a huge number of entries, particularly from influencers just looking for instagram content,” says the spokesperson.

Race organisers have also partnered with several local makeup artists to ensure that no runner’s mascara is out of place.

The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

“It’s such a relief! Now I don’t have to train, or even break a sweat,” says local influencer Hamish Crichton, who has already signed up.

“I can get my finish line selfie and get back on the bags at the Beach Road Hotel by 9am.”
