Byron Shire Mayor Begins Mass Roll Out Of CBD Oil, As The Area Begins Lockdown

The Byron Shire mayor says CBD oil is the key to containing Covid-19, after a Sydney man took the virus to the popular coastal town.

“All we need to do is stay calm,” says mayor Sam Hendry. “Our immune systems will do the rest.”

It comes as the Byron Shire, Richmond Valley, Lismore, Ballina and The Northern Rivers enters a snap seven-day lockdown.

Residents are encouraged to get free doses of CBD oil, as soon as possible.

“Please remember, this is a race,” says mayor Sam Hendry. “CBD oil tents will be set up on Thursday mornings at the Byron Bay Farmers Market.”

“And in the evening, the oil will be available at the main beach car park – drum circle area.”

However CBD oil supply shortages means Byron residents under the age of 40 are not yet eligible.

“We have around 50,000 doses on the way from Nimbin, as soon as crops there mature,” says the Mayor.

During the lockdown, Byron residents have been instructed to remain 1.5 metres apart at all times, unless sharing a spliff or hugging.

More to come.
