Local couple saving up for a deposit on an easter egg from Woolworths 

RIPPLE EFFECT: A young Sydney couple have made the commitment to turn their dream of Easter egg ownership into a reality.

James and Sarah Matthews have announced they’re now actively saving for a deposit on a 340g Easter egg from Woolworths.

“We were saving for a house, but honestly, it’s starting to feel like an Easter egg is more within our reach,” James Matthews told DBT.

“I hope that, with current inflation rates, we should be able to afford the egg by early 2028, hopefully in time for Easter.”

Their dream is being made harder by the cost of living crisis, and surging cocoa prices and now the escalating war in the middle east.

“We are going to have to sacrifice a lot,” says Sarah Matthews.

“No vacations, no eating out, no drinking, and the most difficult one; no more avocado on toast.”
