Sydney man buys tickets to see Oasis in Melbourne so he doesn’t have to deal with the traffic leaving Olympic Park

OASIS HACK: An eastern suburbs man is taking the unprecedented step of flying to Melbourne, just to avoid the gridlock traffic whenever there’s an event on at Sydney Olympic Park.

Paul Watts has purchased tickets for his girlfriend and himself to see the British rockers, even though the same show is on in Sydney at Accor Stadium, only 20 kilometres from his home in Dover Heights.

“Last time I went to a concert at Olympic Park, it finished at 10pm, but heavy gridlock traffic meant I only got out at 1am,” says Paul Watts.

“You’d have to be a complete masochist to drive to any event there.”

Despite a total of three hours of flying time, plus an overnight stay in Melbourne, Mr Watts says he’ll probably be saving time.

“Some people were saying that flying to Melbourne is a bit extreme,” he told DBT.

“They were suggesting I should just drive to Lidcombe and then get the train to Olympic Park, But as if I’m going to do that! I don’t use public transport.”

“And to be honest, I’ve never even heard of Lidcombe.”
