Rose Bay woman hosts farewell party for friend moving to Chippendale
GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN: Tears are flowing as the tyranny of distance threatens to end a lifelong friendship between two Sydney women.
Rose Bay resident Kate Parkes announced last week that she’s moving more than 10km away to Chippendale to live with her boyfriend.
“I’m devastated,” says Kate’s neighbour and old friend Jenna Philby, who hosted a farewell party last night.
“Promise you’ll message when you get settled. And send photos!”
The pair say it’ll be too difficult to meet up face-to-face given their busy schedules and Sydney’s heavy traffic.
“To be honest, the last time I went west of Edgecliff was like three or four years ago,” says Jenna Philby.
“We might meet up somewhere neutral like Potts Point, but nothing is confirmed.”
The friendship is now expected to consist mainly of liking each other’s Instagram stories.
