Mosman mum restricts balloons and streamers at daughter’s 7th birthday to colours that match the home décor

EARTHY TONES: A Mosman mother is defending her decision to limit the decorations at her daughter’s seventh birthday party to a carefully approved palette of beige, ivory and “warm stone.”

“Why should Arabella’s birthday disrupt the visual tranquility of my home.” Camilla Lars-Worthington asked our reporter.

“Besides, children can be so overstimulated these days. A neutral palette is soothing.”

Guests were also encouraged to wear neutral tones to avoid clashing with the family’s Golden Retriever and blonde timber flooring.

Camilla eventually allowed her daughter one pink candle on a three-tier caramel mud cake, but removed it immediately after the photos.

The face painter was later asked to leave the party after Camilla discovered she had brought colours.

DBT asked if she plans to introduce more colours as her daughter grows older..

“Perhaps we’ll venture into soft greys or muted pastels, but only if they fit in with the overall aesthetic,” she said.
