DOWN MARKET: The quaint village atmosphere of Queen Street Woollahra has been completely destroyed with the unveiling of three major retail chains.
McDonald’s, The Reject Shop and Donut King opened for business this morning, triggering locals.
“There goes Woollahra, thanks for the memories,” said one woman clutching a $38 loaf of sourdough.
“I’ll probably have to move my family out of here and back over to Vaucluse.”
The Premier yesterday unveiled plans for 9,400 new home and a train station in Woollahra.
Local businesses are already preparing for the population influx, with the upmarket Chiswick restaurant now offering a $10 all-you-can-eat buffet.
Aldi is reportedly planning to convert the Woollahra Hotel into a discount supermarket.
