Long-term Unemployed Man Happy To Delay Job-Search Until After Corona Crisis Eases

An unemployed 34 year old man who still lives with his parents says the coronavirus is ‘a blessing in disguise.’

“I’ve just secured myself an extra six months of not taking life seriously,” says Gavin Feebrey. “Plus I’m really enjoying having no pressure to socialise.”

The Double Bay man used to work as a minimal tech house DJ, and had a few odd hospitality jobs on the side, but he’s been unemployed for the last 18 months.

“I haven’t earned any money in years, so the rise in the job seeker payment has really improved my quality of living,” he says.

With the coronavirus crisis estimated to last 6 months, Feebrey says there’s no point even considering looking for work.

“The only thing I’m focused on now is social isolation,” he says.
