Double Bay woman spends $25 on an Uber to Kmart, to return a faulty kettle worth $7.50
GIRL MATH: A local woman has been left out of pocket after paying $25 on an Uber to Bondi Junction Kmart, to return a kettle worth only $7.50.
Katie Maxwell-Moore says she purchased the kettle on a spontaneous shopping spree last week.
“But when I got home I realised its lid didn’t quite close properly,” she told DBT.
As well as paying $25 for the Uber trip to Kmart, she also paid another $25 for the trip back home.
Factoring in the $7.50 store credit she got for the kettle, the entire trip left her $42.50 out of pocket.
Asked why she didn’t drive herself to Kmart or get public transport, she replied:
“I didn’t drive because parking is too difficult and I didn’t get the bus because it takes so long.
“After all, time is money.”
And, DBT can also reveal she also came home with a range of other items she didn’t intend on buying.
