PM now driving an Uber on weekends to help pay for all of Labor’s pre-election spending

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: Australia’s Prime Minister is moonlighting as an Uber driver on weekends amid Labor’s extravagant pre-election cash splash.

After an $8.5 billion Medicare boost, Labor has today also announced new energy rebates totalling $1.8 billion, with further cost of living relief expected in Tuesday’s budget.

“Ultimately tax payers will bear the brunt of all these costs, but I’m just doing my bit to chip in,” Anthony Albanese told DBT on a phone interview while he was driving his Uber.

It was a startled passenger who recognised the Labor Party leader as her driver this morning and promptly reported it to DBT.

“The first thing he told me is that driving Uber is not his full-time gig,” said the passenger.

“He said: ‘I’m also the Prime Minister of Australia,’ and then looked in his rear vision mirror to check my reaction.”

It remains unclear if the 2021 Nissan Maxima that Mr Albanese is using as an Uber vehicle is being funded by taxpayers.

“He was a good driver and he didnt try to talk to me too much, so I gave him a $5 tip,” said the passenger. “He’s gonna need it.”
