Eastern suburbs parents decide to make their son repeat year 12 after he only got 99.90 in the HSC
HIGH EXPECTATIONS: A Sydney Grammar student is set to begin year 12 for a second time, after falling short of achieving the highest possible ATAR.
Mark Morgan-Morrow and his parents had their hearts set on an ATAR of 99.95.
But on Thursday they found out he only got 99.90.
“We’re not angry, just disappointed,” his father told DBT.
“The result is embarrassing and may actually harm the family brand.”
Mark Morgan-Morrow’s acceptance into Medicine at USYD has been declined by his parents, who’ve already enrolled him into an intensive summer tutoring program.
“I was meant to be doing a gap year in Europe next year,” the 18 year old told DBT.” But I’ll do whatever it takes to get 99.95,”
“It’s only .05% difference, but my parents say the extra 12 months of school is worth it.”
