Sydney executive wears sweaty lycra to 9.30am boardroom meeting in case colleagues didn’t know he’s a cyclist

TOUR DE FINANCE: A Sydney banking executive shocked his colleagues this morning, arriving for their daily meeting dressed head to toe in expensive lycra cycling gear.

Colleagues say Mark Schumer-Maxon spent the first 10 minutes of the meeting checking his Garmin and casually mentioning that he had “already smashed out 42 kilometres this morning.”

“There was a brutal headwind on Oxford Street,” he said.

Schumer-Maxon told DBT he planned to have a shower and get changed before the morning meeting, but he was running late.

At 11.30am, he was still in full cycling gear, including cleats, loitering around the office kitchen and asking whether anyone had seen his electrolyte tablets.
