NSW shark drone program expanded: dedicated drones now also searching for vacant parking spots at Bondi

SPOT CHECK: Bondi beachgoers are set for some aerial parking assistance, with Surf Life Saving NSW adding a car space search function to existing drone operations.

“Our shark surveillance program will remain unaffected,” says a spokesperson.

“The additional service will use dedicated drones to scan Campbell Parade and surrounding streets for vacant parking spaces.”

Thanks to a partnership with Google Maps, drivers will be notified of any vacant spaces nearby.

“They don’t come up that often,” says Surf Life Saving NSW. “Realistically, we spot more sharks.”
