NSW Premier announces new $180 million light rail link connecting the Golden Sheaf and the Royal Oak

PUB-LIC TRANSPORT: Double Bay pub goers are welcoming the announcement of a new light rail link, connecting two of the areas most popular venues.

The single carriage line will run between the Golden Sheaf Hotel and the Royal Oak Hotel, a distance of 300 metres down Cross Street and then left into Bay Street.

“This corridor has been chronically underserved,” said the Premier

“For too long, young revellers have been forced to make this journey on foot, often in boat shoes never designed for pedestrian use.”

The Opposition is slamming the project as “an insult to every regional town still waiting on a working train.”

But the Premier maintains it will “unlock productivity” by allowing patrons to switch venues roughly four minutes faster than walking.

“I know my parents did this walk when they were young, but things are different now,” says one former Kambala student.

“There’s more traffic and more unsavoury types coming out of Tanuki.”

The project is due for completion in 2029.
