NSW government announces new toll for City2Surf runners using the Kings Cross Tunnel

FUND RUN: City2Surf participants will be charged a new toll for using the Kings Cross Tunnel, the NSW government has confirmed.

Under the scheme, each race bib will contain a personalised e-tag, automatically charging runners $4.71 as they pass through the tunnel.

“If you can afford a $200 pair of runners and the $100 race fee, you can afford a small toll,” the NSW Premier told the media today.

More than 80,000 runners are expected to take part in Sunday’s race, netting the state government almost $400,000 in toll revenue.

And the Premier wouldn’t rule out toll price increases during periods of heavy jogging.
