Nine Network announce new Australian version of The White Lotus, to be filmed at the Calile Hotel in Brisbane

WHITE LOTUS, DOWN UNDER: Fans of the compelling US TV series ‘The White Lotus’ will soon have a new instalment to feast on, and this time it’s set much closer to home.

The first three seasons of the hit social satire show were filmed at hyper luxury resorts in Hawaii, Sicily and Thailand.

Now the Nine Network has begun filming an Australian spin-off at the Calile Hotel in Brisbane.

“We’re focused on emulating the success of the original The White Lotus shows, but we don’t quite have the same budget unfortunately,” says a Nine spokesperson.

“It’s not quite Sicily, but it’ll do.”

The show will feature some of Brisbane’s most well-known actors.

“We’re also shooting parts of the show around the New Farm and South Brisbane areas,” says the spokesperson.

“We are showcasing a distinctly Brisbane brand of luxury, where designer espresso meets backyard barbecue chic.”

The new series is expected to drop on Netflix early next year.
