Social networking platform Instagram has added a new reaction button to give users a broader choice beyond ‘Love,’ ‘Comment’ or ‘Share.’

“Our ‘that looks fake’ button is already proving a popular option since it was rolled out in some countries yesterday,” says Mark Zuckerberg the CEO of Meta, which owns Instagram.

The ‘that looks fake’ option is already being seen by some users in Australia.

It’s reportedly being used regularly on posts featuring selfies and photos of people pretending to have fun.

Mark Zuckerberg says accounts which receive too many ‘that looks fake’ reactions will be penalised on the newsfeed via Instagram’s algorithm.

It’s understood Instagram is now also considering adding a ‘Stop, Please Just Stop,’ button.

“We want our users to start reacting in a more honest way,” says Zuckerberg.
