Cranbrook School begins new 8-day student wilderness survival camp to be held in Centennial Park, 400 metres from Paddington Markets

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST: Exclusive private school Cranbrook has begun an ambitious new wilderness survival program that sees students spend eight days and nights deep within the unforgiving terrain of Centennial Park.

The initiative promises to push students “to their absolute limits.” said teacher Mark O’Driscoll, while unloading high-end camping equipment from a Range Rover.

“We want them to experience true adversity,” he says.

“Out here, we’re completely cut off from civilisation.”

When asked about the proximity to Oxford Street’s cafes and boutiques, Mr O’Driscoll clarified that students would not be allowed to leave Centennial Park at any time.

“However they can order UberEats as much as they like.”

Participants will learn essential bushcraft skills such as erecting tents near the Centennial Park cafe, and boiling water sourced from the duck pond.

Year 9 student Oliver, 14, described the experience as “pretty intense.”

“At one point we could actually see the Bondi Junction skyline. It really puts things into perspective.”

“Yesterday I had to wait 45 minutes for my Guzman y Gomez order because the driver couldn’t find our tent.”
