PHOTO FINISH: For the first time, City2Surf will hand out finisher medals before this year’s 14km race, allowing runners to capture their victory selfies while still looking fresh and well-rested.

Organisers say the change follows complaints that traditional finish-line photos often feature red and shiny faces, with unsightly sweat patches on clothing.

Thousands of participants are expected to leave Hyde Park with untouched energy gels and perfectly clean running shoes.

Organisers say the new system will also reduce congestion at the finish line, with most participants expected to withdraw somewhere near Kings Cross.
