Israel Folau’s home at Kenthurst in Sydney’s north west has been reduced to rubble after being engulfed by a large bushfire.

The blaze reportedly started at the nearby Scheyville National Park, before spreading south toward the sacked Wallabies star’s home.

“The isolated fire started suddenly and moved swiftly,” says Callum Wright from the NSW Rural Fire Service.

“Fire crews were unable to contain the blaze as they were deployed heavily elsewhere at the time.”

Folau’s Kenthurst home, reportedly worth $2.1 million, becomes the 477th home destroyed in fires throughout the state since the start of the bushfire season.

It’s understood Israel Folau and his wife were not home at the time.

It comes a day after Folau’s explosive comments linking the bushfires to same-sex marriage and abortion laws.

Israel Folau was not immediately available for comment about losing his home.

It’s understood he’s currently staying at Alan Jones’ house.

More to come.
