The embattled One Nation political party has found itself an ally in controversial Rugby star Israel Folau.
“I love what One Nation stands for,” Folau told Double Bay Today. “I’m particularly supportive of the party’s strong views against same sex marriage.”
The Wallabies full back was due to front a code of conduct hearing on May 4 to explain his latest social media attacks on homosexuals.
“I couldn’t be bothered with that tribunal rubbish,” says Folau. “Pauline and One Nation have given me a political platform to fight for what I believe in.”
Folau hasn’t had any formal political training but the One Nation founder Pauline Hanson says she sees that as an asset.
“His enthusiasm for our core values is truly inspiring,” says Hanson. “We cant wait to bring him into the One Nation fold.”
It’s understood Folau will be moving to Queensland with his family to replace outgoing senator Steve Dickson.
More to come.
