A Double Bay woman has been left completely unrecognisable as the shutdown of botox clinics and beauticians enters its second month.
Jenny Edgell’s youthful and exuberant appearance in a photo taken before Covid-19, is in stark contrast to a photo taken yesterday.
“My skin has gone wrinkly and pale, my hair is frizzy and my lips have thinned right out,” the 77 year old admits. “I haven’t looked like this in decades.”
As the coronavirus pandemic continues, the situation with Ms Edgell’s face is only expected to worsen.
And she’s not alone, as people all around the world are forced to go without professional facials, fillers and tanning.
“It’s embarrassing,” says Ms Edgell. “People I know really well aren’t recognising me, and there’s no clear indication of when beauty salons will re-open.”
She says the only silver lining is that the closure of beauticians makes it easier for her to keep self-isolating.
“Mainly because there’s no way in hell I’d go out anywhere looking like this.”
More to come.
