Lockdown Impact: Cosmetic Clinic Closures Taking Heavy Toll On Local Woman
A Double Bay woman has been left completely unrecognisable as the shutdown of cosmetic clinics and beauticians enters its second week.
Jenny Edgell’s youthful and exuberant appearance in a photo taken before Sydney’s second lockdown last week, is in stark contrast to a photo taken yesterday.
“My skin has gone wrinkly and pale, my hair is frizzy and my lips have thinned right out,” the 77 year old admits. “I haven’t looked like this in decades.”
As the coronavirus pandemic continues, the situation with Ms Edgell’s face is only expected to worsen.
And she’s not alone, as people all around Australia are forced to go without professional facials, fillers and tanning.
“It’s embarrassing,” says Ms Edgell. “People I know really well aren’t recognising me, and there’s no clear indication of when the cosmetic clinics and beauty salons will re-open.”
“I’ll definitely be socially distancing until then.”
